A recent rocket strike in Kiev has resulted in the deaths of four individuals, with 21 others reported injured. The attack, attributed to Russian forces, has caused significant damage across several districts of the city.
The State Emergency Service of Ukraine reported destruction in the Podilskyi, Obolonskyi, Shevchenkivskyi, and Desnyanskyi districts. In Obolon, parked vehicles caught fire, damaging a nearby warehouse, tire repair shop, and store. Two fatalities occurred in this area, with six others injured, including four emergency responders and two police officers who were on the scene.
In the Podilskyi district, a strike hit an open area, leading to the destruction of residential building facades. Among the casualties were two individuals found under the rubble of a collapsed structure, one of whom was a 12-year-old child. Three others sustained injuries from shattered glass.
Additional damage was reported at two hotels and adjacent buildings, where two individuals were injured. Another strike near residential buildings resulted in facade damage, with three people trapped inside their homes.
Rescue efforts led to the successful extraction of two individuals, including one child, from the debris of a one-story residential building. In a separate incident, a strike impacted the sixth floor of a 16-story building, prompting the evacuation of ten residents, but no injuries or fires were reported.
In the Desnyanskyi district, a two-story residential building caught fire due to the attack, but no injuries were reported. In Shevchenkivskyi, strikes were noted at a children’s playground and near a residential building, again resulting in no casualties.
Emergency services are currently on-site to manage the situation and assess the extent of injuries and damage.
