Explosion at Qatar’s Barzan Gas Facility Injures 54, Leaves 18 Missing

An explosion occurred on June 21 at the Barzan gas processing facility in Ras Laffan, Qatar, resulting in 54 injuries and 18 individuals reported missing. The incident took place during the startup phase of production, as confirmed by QatarEnergy.

The company stated that emergency response teams were dispatched to manage the fire that ensued following the explosion. The Ministry of Interior of Qatar attributed the blast to a “technical failure” and emphasized that there was no leak posing a threat to public safety.

The Barzan facility has a production capacity of approximately 40 million cubic meters per day, supplying pipeline gas to Qatar’s industrial and energy sectors. Additionally, it produces ethane, condensate, liquefied petroleum gas, and sulfur for both domestic and export markets.

The explosion at the Barzan gas facility in Qatar has resulted in multiple injuries and missing persons, prompting a response from emergency teams. The incident has been attributed to a technical failure, with no public safety threat identified.
