Ukrainian Special Operations Forces Target Russian Oil Refinery

On June 20, Ukrainian Special Operations Forces successfully struck the Tyumen Oil Refinery in Russia’s Tyumen region, according to reports from the forces themselves.

The operation involved drones that traveled approximately 2,500 kilometers to reach their target. The Special Operations Forces announced their intent to enhance long-range strike capabilities.

The Tyumen Oil Refinery is a full-cycle facility with an annual processing capacity of up to 9 million tons of crude oil. It produces gasoline, diesel fuel, heating oil, and aviation fuel, playing a crucial role in supplying fuel to regions in Western Siberia.

The Special Operations Forces further stated that they will continue to implement what they termed “regular long-range sanctions” against Russia.

On the same day, Tyumen Governor Alexander Moor confirmed the drone attack on the refinery, claiming that Russian air defense systems had intercepted the strikes and that there were no reported damages to the facility.

The refinery’s designed capacity ranges from 7.5 to 9 million tons of crude oil annually. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky also confirmed the attack, stating that the Special Operations Forces had targeted the refinery in Tyumen.
