The Ukrainian postal service, Ukrposhta, has temporarily halted operations of its mobile units in the Nikopol district of Dnipropetrovsk region due to recent attacks on its vehicles by Russian forces.
This decision was reported by RBC-Ukraine, citing a Telegram update from the Ukrainian Ministry of Communities and Territories Development.
According to the ministry, Russian troops targeted Nikopol with FPV drones, striking two Ukrposhta vehicles that were delivering postal services to local residents. The vehicles were destroyed in the assault.
Fortunately, no employees were injured as they had taken shelter during the air raid alert.
This incident marks the fourth vehicle loss for Ukrposhta in the Nikopol district within just a week due to ongoing shelling by Russian forces. Consequently, the company has decided to temporarily suspend its mobile service units, although it plans to resume operations in the community within a day.
The ministry stated, “The decision to temporarily suspend mobile unit operations was made for the safety of employees and local residents. Alternative solutions and additional protective measures are currently being developed. It is expected that mobile units will resume operations in the community within a day.”
Despite the continuous attacks, Ukrposhta remains committed to providing services in frontline communities.
Ukrposhta has paused its mobile postal services in Nikopol following attacks on its vehicles. The decision prioritizes employee safety while plans for resuming operations are underway.
