In the early hours of June 20, Ukrainian air defense forces successfully intercepted a significant Russian drone assault involving 99 Shahed-type drones, including variants like Gerbera and Italmas, as well as imitation drones known as “Parody.” According to reports from the Ukrainian Air Force, 92 of these drones were neutralized during the attack.
The drones were launched from several locations within Russia, including Orel, Bryansk, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk. Ukrainian defense forces employed a combination of aviation, anti-aircraft missile systems, electronic warfare units, and mobile fire groups to counter the aerial threat.
As of 8:00 AM, preliminary assessments indicated that the air defense had effectively downed or suppressed 92 enemy drones across various regions, including the north, south, and east of Ukraine. The report noted that there were confirmed strikes from seven attack drones at three locations, with debris from the intercepted drones landing in multiple areas.
Ukrainian air defense forces continue to monitor the situation, as several Russian drones remain active in the airspace.
