Drone Strikes Damage Key Bridges in Occupied Kherson Region

Recent drone strikes have resulted in significant damage to a bridge near Chonhar, prompting the closure of the road at the Djankoy border crossing, according to reports from local authorities.

Vladimir Saldo, the self-proclaimed governor of the occupied part of the Kherson region, confirmed the incidents, stating that nighttime attacks also targeted the bridge connecting Henichesk with the Arabat Spit, leading to the suspension of traffic.

“The threat of new drone strikes remains, and the occupiers will assess the extent of the damage as soon as operational services permit,” Saldo noted.

The first attack on the Chonhar bridge occurred on June 7, after which traffic was temporarily restored in a reversible mode. However, on June 9, the bridge was again struck by drones, resulting in another halt to vehicle movement. Following these incidents, the occupying authorities advised using alternative routes through Armyansk and Perekop.

The Center for Countering Disinformation has reported that the Chonhar bridge was completely destroyed following multiple drone strikes.

Additionally, on the morning of June 10, traffic was suspended on the bridge between Henichesk and the Arabat Spit, marking the second critical crossing to be closed in recent days due to the attacks on the Chonhar bridge.

Drone strikes have severely impacted key transportation routes in the occupied Kherson region, with authorities reporting the destruction of the Chonhar bridge and subsequent traffic closures. The situation underscores ongoing military actions affecting civilian infrastructure.
