Ukrainian Drones Strike Crimean Titan Plant in Occupied Crimea

Ukrainian drones targeted the Crimean Titan plant in the city of Armyansk, located in the occupied region of Crimea, during the night of June 13. This attack was confirmed by Robert Brodii, the commander of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ drone units.

The strike resulted in a significant fire at the facility, halting production. Brodii emphasized the plant’s role in producing raw materials used for explosives, rocket fuel, and gunpowder.

Vasyl Telizhenko, the head of the Armyansk administration appointed by Russia, described the incident as an “emergency situation” on his social media account. While he did not provide specific details about the damage, he assured residents that all relevant services were engaged in addressing the emergency. He also claimed that there were no exceedances of permissible concentration levels of hazardous substances.

Local reports from the Ukrainian channel Crimean Wind indicated that residents in Armyansk were complaining about a sulfur smell following the attack. One post cited by the Telegram channel stated, “The entire plant has been destroyed. There were 23 strikes.” Additionally, sources from Crimean Wind noted that workers at the facility were not evacuated, as they were instructed to remain until the end of their shifts.

Crimean Titan is the largest titanium dioxide production facility in Eastern Europe, making its operational status critical for various industries.

The Ukrainian drone strike on the Crimean Titan plant has raised concerns regarding safety and environmental impact in the region. The incident underscores the ongoing conflict and its implications for local industries in occupied Crimea.
