Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko has expressed optimism that the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine could conclude within this year. His comments were reported by RBC-Ukraine, citing a Telegram channel associated with Lukashenko.
Lukashenko stated, “This year, I believe these conflicts can be stopped. I am not just hopeful; I am confident they will be resolved.” He referred to the wars in Ukraine and Iran, suggesting that a resolution is possible.
The Belarusian leader emphasized that the cessation of these conflicts hinges on the willingness of a select few individuals. He remarked, “If there is such a desire, these wars can certainly end this year. As for the Middle East, there are no other options available to stop the war there.”
In related developments, Ukrainian Defense Forces reported that in May, they reclaimed over 100 square kilometers of territory, surpassing the areas lost. According to General Oleksandr Syrskyi, the total area of liberated territories since the beginning of 2026 has exceeded 600 square kilometers.
