As of June 12, 2023, Ukrainian military officials reported a significant escalation in combat, with 193 clashes recorded since the start of the day. The most intense Russian offensives were noted in the Pokrovsk and Hulyaipole directions.
In the Pokrovsk area, Russian forces launched 30 attacks, attempting to advance towards the settlements of Rodynske, Novooleksandrivka, Shevchenko, Hryshyne, Serhiivka, Kotlyne, Udachne, and Novopidhorodne. Two of these assaults are still ongoing. Meanwhile, in the Hulyaipole direction, 25 attacks were documented, with three continuing at the time of the report. The aggressors targeted Rybne, Vozdvizhivka, Hulyaipole, Verkhnya Tersa, Tsvitkove, Zaliznychne, Rivnopillia, Varvarivka, Hirke, Myrne, Dobropillia, and Charivne.
Combat operations were also reported in several other regions, including the Northern Slobozhansky, Kursk, Southern Slobozhansky, Lyman, Sloviansk, Kramatorsk, Kostiantynivka, and Orikhiv directions.
According to the DeepState project, May marked the first month since autumn 2022 in which Russian forces experienced a net loss of occupied territory. This trend is corroborated by the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW), which noted that over six months of intense assaults from December 2025 to May 2026 resulted in Russian troops gaining only slightly more than 40 square kilometers.
Amid these developments, the situation in Kostiantynivka has sharply deteriorated. The DeepState map indicates that since mid-May, Russian forces have approached the city closely, entering what is classified as a “red zone,” with soldiers increasingly reported in nearly all districts of the city, now referred to as a “gray zone.” Analyst Kostiantyn Mashovets from the Information Resistance group expressed concerns on June 8, suggesting that Ukraine might lose Kostiantynivka during June or July.
The Ukrainian military reported 193 clashes on June 12, 2023, with significant Russian offensives in the Pokrovsk and Hulyaipole regions. The situation in Kostiantynivka has worsened, raising concerns about potential territorial losses for Ukraine.
