On June 9, a drone strike in Vilnyansk, located in the Zaporizhzhia region, resulted in injuries to four individuals, including a woman and her two young children, as confirmed by the head of the regional military administration, Ivan Fedorov.
According to Fedorov, the victims included a three-year-old girl, a seven-year-old boy, and their 33-year-old mother, all of whom were hospitalized for treatment. Additionally, a 65-year-old man was also injured and is currently under medical supervision.
The drone attack caused damage to several private residences in the area. This incident is part of a broader pattern of assaults by Russian military forces, which frequently target Ukrainian cities and civilian infrastructure using various weapons, including drones, missiles, and artillery systems.

Furthermore, the systematic targeting of critical infrastructure, the persecution of pro-Ukrainian individuals in occupied territories, and the suppression of Ukrainian culture through educational reforms and the removal of cultural artifacts are cited as indicators of genocidal intent.
The 1948 United Nations Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide obligates signatory states to prevent and punish acts of genocide during both wartime and peacetime. Despite these allegations, Russian leadership continues to deny that its military intentionally targets civilian infrastructure or causes civilian casualties during the ongoing conflict.
