Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has stated that any attack from the United States will not go unanswered. His remarks followed a series of US airstrikes in response to the downing of an American helicopter.
In a post on social media platform X, Araghchi emphasized that despite setbacks on the battlefield, the US is testing Iran’s resolve. He asserted, “Our powerful armed forces will respond to any attack or threat.” He further cautioned that US troops should leave the region if they wish to ensure their safety.
“The history of the Persian Gulf is filled with chapters dedicated to the tragic fate of those who have invaded from outside,” he concluded.
This statement came after the US targeted Iranian air defense systems and radar installations in the Strait of Hormuz. Iranian media reported that the US strikes affected two reservoirs in southern Iran, while CNN indicated that the US had initiated a new wave of retaliatory strikes.
Additionally, prior to Araghchi’s announcement, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed to have launched missiles and drones at US targets in the Middle East. However, no details regarding the interception of these targets or any consequences have been disclosed.
In context, President Donald Trump had previously indicated that negotiations with Iran regarding a potential agreement were nearing completion, suggesting a deal could be reached in the coming days. However, following the incident involving the downed Apache helicopter, he promised a strong response from the US.
Iran's Foreign Minister has issued a warning against US airstrikes, asserting that any attack will be met with retaliation. This follows recent US military actions in response to the downing of an American helicopter.
