The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense has announced an expansion of anti-drone measures along critical logistics routes in frontline areas. Minister Mykhailo Fedоров reported via Telegram that over 211 kilometers of anti-drone protection have been established in May alone.
In addition to the new installations, nearly 38 kilometers of protective structures have been restored on damaged road sections. Fedоров emphasized that repair work on highways continues in frontline regions, with 115.5 kilometers of roads being rehabilitated in the past month.
Analysts from the U.S.-based Institute for the Study of War (ISW) have noted that Russian forces have made minimal progress in their spring-summer offensive against Ukraine’s fortified defenses. In contrast, Ukrainian troops have reportedly achieved significant successes on the battlefield during the winter and spring of 2026, reclaiming more territory than Russian forces gained in April 2026.
According to the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, as of May 8, Russian military operations have intensified across the front. The Pokrovsk direction remains particularly tense, with Russia reportedly concentrating around 106,000 personnel in that area.
The Ukrainian government is bolstering anti-drone defenses along logistics routes amid ongoing military operations. Recent reports indicate that both protective measures and road repairs are being prioritized in frontline areas, as Russian forces struggle to make significant advances.
