Apple’s iPhone 18 Pro to Feature Enhanced Battery Life with eSIM-Only Models in Europe

Recent disclosures from industry insiders, Digital Chat Station and Ice Universe, have revealed details regarding the battery specifications of the upcoming iPhone 18 Pro. A significant development for the European market is Apple’s decision to introduce models without traditional SIM card slots.

The design of smartphones is closely linked to the type of connectivity they support. The conventional plastic SIM slot occupies space that can be utilized for a larger battery in models equipped with eSIM technology.

According to the insiders, the battery capacities for the iPhone 18 Pro lineup are as follows:

  • Physical SIM card version (for China and select other countries): 4056 mAh, an increase of only 68 mAh compared to the previous generation.
  • eSIM-only version: 4288 mAh, representing a notable enhancement in capacity.
  • iPhone 18 Pro Max: This model will maintain a similar division, with the eSIM variant featuring a battery capacity between 5100-5200 mAh, while the physical SIM version will have approximately 5000 mAh.

Changes for the European Market

Previously, Apple released smartphones without SIM card slots exclusively in the United States. The company is now expanding this practice to European countries.

European consumers had previously received models with lower battery capacities due to the presence of the plastic SIM slot. With the new design, they will automatically be offered the version with a 4288 mAh battery.

Insiders have also indicated that Apple plans to phase out physical SIM cards entirely in the future, impacting all users.

Energy Efficiency of the Processor

The actual battery life of these smartphones is expected to improve significantly, as the new Pro versions will be powered by the A20 Pro chip. This will be the company’s first processor fabricated using a cutting-edge 2-nanometer process at TSMC.

According to the insiders, this architecture consumes considerably less energy. Combined with the increased battery capacity, the new iPhone is anticipated to deliver superior performance in terms of battery life.

It is worth noting that Apple traditionally refrains from commenting on unofficial leaks.

The iPhone 18 Pro is set to feature enhanced battery capacities, particularly for eSIM-only models, as Apple expands its SIM-free offerings to Europe. The integration of a new processor is expected to further improve energy efficiency.
