Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has warned that Russian forces may be preparing for a significant airstrike against Ukraine in the near future. He urged citizens to adhere strictly to safety protocols amid rising tensions.
“A large-scale strike could happen. The Russians have prepared for it,” Zelensky stated, emphasizing the seriousness of the situation. He reassured the public that Ukrainian air defense forces are operational around the clock and are ready to counter any potential attacks.
“Our defenders of the sky are prepared 24/7 to the best of our available resources,” he added, highlighting the commitment of the military to protect the nation.
In light of the potential threat, Zelensky called on citizens not to ignore air raid alerts and to seek shelter immediately if danger arises.
Recent history underscores the urgency of these warnings. In late May, Russia launched a series of extensive air assaults on Ukraine. Notably, on May 24, Russian forces employed a staggering 690 aerial attack assets, including medium-range ballistic missiles, Kinzhal and Zircon missiles, Iskander-M missiles, Kh-101 cruise missiles, Kalibr missiles, and Iskander-K missiles, alongside 600 drones of various types. The primary target of these strikes was the capital city, Kyiv.
