Google Pixel 10 Series Faces Ongoing Hardware and Software Issues

The Google Pixel 10 series, which includes the Pro and Pro XL models, has encountered significant hardware and software challenges since its release. Despite a series of updates rolled out in May 2026, users continue to report persistent issues affecting their devices.

One of the most notable problems is the appearance of “color snow,” a form of static interference on the screens. Initially attributed to a potential graphics processing unit (GPU) failure, experts have shifted their focus to a likely display driver malfunction. As of late spring 2026, complaints regarding intermittent “color storms” on the screens remain prevalent on Google’s official support forums.

In addition to display issues, users have faced difficulties with the contactless payment feature via the NFC chip. A frustrating bug has emerged where the Google Wallet app fails to register new debit, credit, or even insurance cards. Some users have attempted temporary fixes, such as disabling Wi-Fi and clearing the app’s cache, but these solutions have proven ineffective. Alarmingly, many Pixel 10 owners, along with some Pixel 9 users, have reported complete loss of all previously saved payment cards following these failures.

The Pixel 10 series has also been plagued by several critical defects. One major issue is the eSIM failure, where devices unexpectedly lose mobile connectivity, prevent users from changing carriers, or even become completely unresponsive. For some, the only recourse has been to return the device to the retailer and revert to older models.

Another significant concern is the failure to connect with Android Auto. Users have reported that the app either freezes on the startup logo or transmits audio without video. For those who manage to access the interface, the system often lags within minutes, with Google Maps disappearing from the vehicle’s display.

Moreover, firmware updates intended to resolve these issues have often exacerbated them. Regular patches from Google have led to more complications than solutions, with updates released earlier in the year and a recent April update causing some users to lose access to Wi-Fi and Bluetooth entirely.

Additionally, software glitches have led devices to mistakenly believe that their main camera and LED flash are perpetually active, preventing users from capturing photos or using the flashlight. To restore functionality after problematic updates, users have resorted to disabling or completely removing system services like Google Play and Fitbit, as official developers have not provided reliable solutions.

The Google Pixel 10 series continues to struggle with significant hardware and software problems, including display malfunctions and issues with contactless payments. Despite multiple updates, users report persistent defects, prompting some to revert to older models.
