Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has dismissed claims that Ukraine has identified 500 targets in Belarus for potential strikes in response to any aggression from his country. Speaking publicly, Lukashenko referred to these assertions as “empty talk,” while asserting that Belarus also has significant targets in mind.
During a recent address, Lukashenko stated, “They may have identified 500 targets—thank you, as we have 500 targets for them as well. We have one very serious target with precise coordinates, and it is quite close to Belarus. They understand this too.” His comments were shared via the Telegram channel “Pool of the First.”
The context of Lukashenko’s remarks follows statements made by Ukrainian military commander Robert “Madyar” Brovdi on May 26, who indicated that Ukraine had indeed outlined its first 500 targets in Belarus should Lukashenko’s regime engage directly in the ongoing conflict.
Earlier, on April 17, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky had warned that Moscow was attempting to pull Minsk into the war. He highlighted that infrastructure developments were taking place in border areas of Belarus, including the construction of roads leading toward Ukraine and the establishment of artillery positions.
In a related statement on May 20, Zelensky expressed concerns that Russia was considering additional attacks on northern regions of Ukraine, specifically the Chernihiv and Kyiv areas, potentially launching from Belarus and the Bryansk region.
Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has downplayed Ukraine's claims of identifying targets in Belarus, asserting that his country is prepared for any potential conflict. This exchange highlights the ongoing tensions in the region as both nations prepare for possible escalations.
