Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has emphasized the need for heightened international political and economic pressure on Russia in response to recent attacks on Ukrainian cities, including Dnipro. Zelensky’s comments come after a Russian strike on Dnipro resulted in significant damage and raised concerns over ongoing military aggression.
During a recent address, Zelensky stated that stopping regular Russian bombardments requires decisive and unified actions from the global community. He asserted that only through sustained support for Ukraine’s defense and continued pressure on Russia can these attacks be halted. “All these strikes must be stopped. Only sufficient support for our defense and ongoing pressure on Russia is needed,” he remarked.
Zelensky urged world leaders and partners to activate all available means of influence, including long-range sanctions and economic restrictions. He noted, “Our long-range sanctions, those from our partners, and all forms of political and economic pressure on Russia must work to achieve real security. Only pressure will lead to peace.”
The attack on Dnipro occurred on May 31, as reported by Oleksandr Hanzha, the head of the regional military administration. He confirmed that the enemy struck Dnipro, igniting a fire. Further details indicated that a logistics company’s warehouse and nearby parked vehicles were affected. Additionally, it was reported that a branch of the delivery service Nova Poshta was destroyed in the assault.
Russian forces have been consistently targeting Ukrainian cities and civilian infrastructure using various weapons, including drones, missiles, and rocket systems. Ukrainian authorities and international organizations have classified these strikes as war crimes, emphasizing their targeted nature.
Attacks on essential services and healthcare facilities aimed at depriving civilians of electricity, heating, water supply, communication, and medical assistance have been characterized as genocidal actions by Ukrainian officials. In contrast, Russian leadership denies that its military conducts targeted strikes against civilian infrastructure, claiming that such attacks do not intentionally harm the civilian population or destroy critical facilities.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has called for intensified international pressure on Russia following a recent attack on Dnipro. He argues that unified global actions and sanctions are essential to halt ongoing military aggression and ensure the safety of Ukrainian citizens.
