Russian Missile Strike Hits Odesa, Resulting in Casualties

On the evening of May 25, Odesa experienced a missile strike from Russian forces, leading to at least one confirmed fatality and multiple injuries. The attack occurred shortly after an air raid alert was issued around 10:05 PM, with reports indicating the launch of ballistic missiles toward the city.

Serhiy Lysak, the head of the Odesa City Military Administration, confirmed the strike targeted the regional center. The explosion caused damage to an infrastructure facility and shattered windows in nearby residential buildings and educational institutions.

Initial reports indicated two injuries, which later rose to four, including one individual in critical condition. Lysak later confirmed that one of the victims did not survive despite medical efforts. “The number of injured has increased to four. Unfortunately, we have just learned that one of them has died. Doctors fought to save his life, but the injuries were incompatible with life,” he stated.

Emergency services are currently on-site, working to address the aftermath of the attack, and the total number of casualties is still being assessed. Oleg Kiper, head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration, noted that the assault involved a combination of missile and drone strikes.

“One person has died, and at least three others have been injured. Data regarding the consequences of the attack is being clarified,” Kiper reported.

Witnesses on social media also reported damage to a supermarket, sharing videos that show the destruction of apartments in the vicinity.

Recent Attacks on Odesa

Earlier, on May 18, Odesa faced a significant drone attack that resulted in extensive damage to over twenty residential buildings, injuring two civilians, including a 59-year-old man and an 11-year-old boy. The strikes affected several areas, with one single-story building completely destroyed and others suffering damage to facades, roofs, and windows, leading to fires.
