Ukrainian Forces Target Key Oil Infrastructure in Russia

In the early hours of May 20, 2026, Ukrainian defense units conducted strikes on the “Lukoil-Nizhny Novgorodorgsintez” oil refinery located in Russia, as reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The military indicated that operations were carried out against several significant targets within Russia and in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine on May 19 and into the night of May 20.

Specifically, the primary oil processing unit AVT-6 at the Lukoil facility in the Kstovo area of Nizhny Novgorod region was hit, resulting in a subsequent fire.

Additionally, damage was reported at the “Yaroslavl-3” oil pumping station in Semibratovo, Yaroslavl region, with preliminary assessments indicating the destruction of four tanks with a combined capacity of 140,000 cubic meters.

This pumping station plays a crucial role in the transportation of Russian oil and supports the country’s military-industrial infrastructure.

Ukrainian forces also targeted various military installations in the temporarily occupied regions of Donetsk, Luhansk, and Zaporizhzhia, as well as in Russia’s Kursk region.

On May 18, Ukrainian defense units had previously struck the Lukoil-Nizhny Novgorodnefteorgsintez refinery in Kstovo, which resulted in a fire at the facility.

On May 19, the Yaroslavl-3 oil pumping station was also targeted, further emphasizing the ongoing military operations aimed at disrupting Russian energy capabilities.

Ukrainian forces have targeted significant oil infrastructure in Russia, including the Lukoil refinery and a key oil pumping station, as part of ongoing military operations. These strikes aim to disrupt the Russian oil supply chain and military logistics.
