Russian Military Strikes Ukrainian Gas Infrastructure Again

On the morning of May 19, Russian forces targeted several infrastructure facilities belonging to Naftogaz in Chernihiv Oblast, according to a statement from the company. This marks the third consecutive day of attacks on Naftogaz’s assets.

The military strikes involved drone attacks, resulting in significant damage to critical equipment at various gas infrastructure sites. Fortunately, personnel at one of the affected facilities were evacuated without any reported injuries.

Emergency services are currently on-site to assess the damage and manage the aftermath of the attacks. Naftogaz has confirmed that the extent of the destruction is still being evaluated.

Just a day prior, Naftogaz reported a ballistic missile strike on its oil and gas infrastructure in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast. Last week, similar missile attacks were reported against Naftogaz facilities in Poltava Oblast.

Since the onset of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Naftogaz has reported the deaths of 324 employees. On May 1, the company’s CEO, Serhiy Koretskyi, disclosed that Russian forces have attacked Naftogaz facilities 96 times this year alone. He noted that during the heating season, these attacks have targeted all aspects of Naftogaz’s operations, including gas and oil extraction, transportation, and energy production.

Russian military strikes continue to target Naftogaz infrastructure, causing significant damage and highlighting ongoing threats to Ukraine's energy sector. The company reports multiple attacks this year, raising concerns over safety and operational integrity.
