Sergiy Shefir has responded to a recent investigation by Bihus.Info concerning his family’s overseas assets, asserting that the majority of his properties were acquired before he entered politics. He emphasized that all his income is accurately reported in his annual declarations.
In a statement, Shefir remarked, “I watched the latest Bihus.Info episode about my humble self. What can I say? It’s a great, professional job, well-produced, and they put in a lot of effort. The investigative journalist got almost everything right, but I would like to add a few points.”
He clarified that “99% of all properties, both in the Czech Republic and the UK, were purchased several years prior to my political career.” He further stated, “The origins of the funds are reflected in the declarations I submit annually, and I pay taxes regularly, in accordance with the law.”
Shefir also addressed information regarding his family, specifically mentioning his son. He noted, “The investigative journalist either forgot to mention or chose not to report that my son has not fled anywhere and has been serving as a volunteer in the Armed Forces since 2022.”
Additionally, Shefir highlighted his wife’s volunteer work since the onset of the full-scale war, saying, “I am confident that the investigative journalist accidentally overlooked the fact that my wife has been a volunteer since 2022, regularly traveling to the front lines in Kharkiv, Donetsk, and Zaporizhzhia regions. She does this without seeking publicity, simply doing what she believes is necessary.”
