The State Emergency Service of Ukraine reported on May 15 that a recent Russian strike on Kyiv resulted in significant casualties. As of 6:00 AM, the agency confirmed that 24 individuals, including three children, lost their lives in the Darniytskyi district due to the attack.
Additionally, 47 people sustained injuries, with two of them being children. Emergency responders successfully rescued 30 individuals from the debris. Psychological support was provided to 398 people affected by the incident, and canine units conducted searches over an area of 2,800 square meters, recovering 3,180 cubic meters of rubble.
In response to the tragedy, the Kyiv authorities declared May 15 a day of mourning for the victims of the May 14 strike. Local officials indicated that the nine-story building in Darniytskyi, which suffered extensive damage, lost 18 apartments, and at least 20 individuals are still reported missing following the collapse.
Damage from the attack has also been noted in the Dniprovskyi, Holosiivskyi, and Obolonskyi districts of the city. According to the Ukrainian Air Force, the Russian military launched a total of 56 missiles and 675 drones during the nighttime assault on May 14, with Kyiv being the primary target.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reported that the widespread attack resulted in damage to 180 facilities across Ukraine, including over 50 residential buildings. As of now, the Russian side has not issued any comments regarding the attack.
