The Russian Ministry of Defense has issued a statement regarding its recent extensive military operations against Ukraine, labeling them as a form of “retribution.” This announcement follows a series of strikes targeting Ukrainian defense industry facilities and military airfields, reportedly utilizing advanced missile systems.
According to the Russian military, the operations were successful, claiming that all designated targets were hit. However, the ministry’s report omits any mention of the impact on civilian populations.
In the Darniцьkyi district of Kyiv, a missile strike resulted in the destruction of an entrance to a nine-story residential building. Preliminary reports indicate that five individuals have died, with approximately 40 others injured and 20 reported missing. Rescue operations are currently ongoing at the site.
In a broader context, the recent attacks involved the deployment of strategic aviation, ballistic missiles, and hundreds of drones, with Kyiv once again bearing the brunt of the assault. During the night, Russian forces reportedly launched 56 missiles and deployed 675 drones, affecting regions including Kyiv, Kharkiv, Poltava, and Odesa.
The Russian Ministry of Defense has claimed its recent military operations against Ukraine were justified as acts of retribution. The strikes have resulted in significant civilian casualties and damage, particularly in Kyiv's residential areas.
