Hungarian Government Responds to Drone Attacks in Transcarpathia

The Hungarian government has reacted to a significant drone attack by Russian forces on Transcarpathia, which targeted critical infrastructure in the region.

Anita Orban, a government spokesperson, stated that officials are closely monitoring the situation and will address the matter in today’s cabinet meeting.

At the time of her statement, reports indicated at least five drone strikes across various localities, including near Svalyava and in Uzhhorod.

“We strongly condemn the attack. We are in constant contact with our general consul, having spoken with him multiple times to gather information on the situation,” Orban emphasized.

Details from local authorities suggest that this assault is among the most extensive the region has experienced since the onset of the full-scale war.

Confirmed strikes have hit an industrial facility and a transformer at a railway station.

Miroslav Biletsky, head of the regional military administration, urged residents of Transcarpathia to remain in shelters due to the risk of further attacks.

During this aerial assault, Russian forces deployed hundreds of Shahed-type strike drones, entering Ukrainian airspace from Belarus and the Black Sea.

The Hungarian government has condemned the recent drone strikes in Transcarpathia, which targeted critical infrastructure and raised safety concerns for local residents. Authorities are monitoring the situation closely and have urged caution amid the ongoing threat of further attacks.
