Ukrainian President Warns of Increased Drone Attacks Amid Russian Military Activity

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has indicated that Russian forces may conduct further drone strikes across Ukraine, with over a hundred unmanned aerial vehicles reported in the skies. He stated that these attacks are being executed in waves, targeting key infrastructure, including rail systems and civilian sites in various cities.

According to Zelensky, 14 regions experienced strikes throughout the day prior, with nighttime assaults focusing on residential and railway infrastructure in the Dnipropetrovsk and Kharkiv areas, as well as port facilities in Odesa and energy sites in Poltava.

The president noted that Ukrainian air defense forces successfully intercepted and neutralized 111 drones overnight. He emphasized the ongoing need for robust defense against these attacks and called for continued international support for Ukraine. Zelensky warned that diminished global media attention on the war could embolden Russia to escalate its aggression.

“Every time the topic of war fades from the headlines, it encourages Russia to be even more brutal. It is crucial for our diplomats to swiftly implement agreements reached at the leadership level. Ukraine requires daily defense capabilities,” Zelensky remarked.

Ukrainian Air Force spokesman Yuriy Ihnat reported during a televised marathon that Russian forces are relocating tactical aviation assets, suggesting preparations for possible mass strikes on Ukrainian territory in the coming days. He noted that this activity is evident at several airbases where strategic aircraft may be stationed.

Ihnat explained that Russian military units typically prepare their aircraft in advance for strikes and periodically relocate them for security reasons. He also warned of the potential for significant missile and aerial attacks in the next few days, urging citizens to adhere to safety protocols and respond to air raid alerts.

It is worth noting that during the night of May 13, Ukrainian air defense successfully neutralized 111 out of 139 drones launched by Russian forces against Ukraine. Strikes were confirmed at 13 locations, with debris falling at four sites.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has warned of potential increases in Russian drone attacks, emphasizing the need for continued international support. Ukrainian air defenses successfully intercepted a significant number of drones in recent assaults, while military officials report heightened Russian military activity.
