Trump Expresses Optimism Over Potential Iran Deal Amid Rising Tensions

U.S. President Donald Trump has indicated that there are “great chances” for reaching an agreement with Iran, potentially concluding ongoing hostilities within a week. This statement was made during a conversation with White House correspondent Liz Landers.

Trump expressed a belief that the U.S. is nearing a deal with Iran, stating, “I think there are very big chances for it to end, and if it doesn’t end, we will have to go back to bombing them to smithereens.” Despite his assertive remarks, he also acknowledged his previous optimism regarding negotiations, suggesting a cautious approach to making definitive conclusions.

He further speculated that an agreement might be finalized before his upcoming visit to China next week. Following this, Fox News correspondent Bret Baier reported on his own phone conversation with Trump, describing the President as “cautiously optimistic” about the negotiations with Iran. Baier noted that when he inquired about a timeline, Trump mentioned that everything could be wrapped up within a week.

The backdrop to these discussions includes heightened tensions in the Strait of Hormuz and increased economic pressure on Tehran. Reports indicate that both parties have made significant progress toward signing a memorandum aimed at resolving the conflict in the Middle East.
