Ukrainian Forces Report Significant Advances in April, President Zelenskyy States

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that the country’s defense forces achieved notable progress on the front lines in April, particularly in increasing strikes beyond 20 kilometers. This information was shared via his Telegram channel following reports from military officials and the Minister of Defense.

“The number of medium-range strikes has significantly increased. Currently, hits at distances of over 20 kilometers have doubled compared to March and quadrupled compared to February. We expect even more. This is a priority area,” Zelenskyy stated.

The President emphasized the need to expand robotic missions. He noted that in April, the National Robotic Corps (NRC) completed over 10,200 logistical and evacuation tasks, which he described as a “significant achievement,” though he acknowledged that it was insufficient in the broader context of the front.

Zelenskyy indicated that the contracting, production, and supply of ground robotic systems to the military must continue to grow. He mentioned that the Ministry of Defense has set a target for May, aiming to enhance the deployment of robotic systems at the front.

“We will continue to increase the production of all types of drones and robotic systems. I thank everyone who contributes to this effort daily. I also appreciate our partners for their confirmed financial support. Glory to Ukraine,” he added.

Earlier, President Zelenskyy stated that the Russian spring offensive had failed, although he noted that Russia does not plan to halt its military actions. He asserted that Russian forces lack the capacity for a large-scale offensive and are instead attempting tactical penetrations, which Ukrainian forces are successfully countering.

On April 17, Vadym Skibitsky, Deputy Chief of the Main Intelligence Directorate, reported that Russia is preparing a new ground assault in southeastern Ukraine, mobilizing strategic reserves to reinforce its armed forces with approximately 20,000 troops.

On April 1, Viktor Trehubov, spokesperson for the Joint Forces Group, stated that Russia continues to accumulate troops in preparation for an offensive, including conducting rotations and preparing equipment in the Velykoburlutskyi direction.

“In the Velykoburlutskyi direction, which has been relatively quiet recently, we are seeing, firstly, the withdrawal of some units back to Russian territory and the introduction of new units from Russia, essentially restoring troop numbers to pre-winter campaign levels,” the spokesperson explained.

President Zelenskyy reported significant advancements by Ukrainian forces in April, particularly in medium-range strikes. He emphasized the need for increased robotic missions and ongoing military support as tensions with Russian forces persist.
