The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) confirmed that the drone was aimed at the External Radiation Monitoring Laboratory, which is situated outside the plant’s perimeter. The extent of any damage to the laboratory remains unclear at this time.
In response to the attack, the IAEA team present at the site has requested access to the laboratory to assess the situation. IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi condemned the attack, emphasizing the potential risks posed to nuclear facilities.
“Any attacks near nuclear sites can pose a threat to nuclear safety,” Grossi stated.
