Ukrainian Forces Deny Russian Claims of Territorial Gains in Sumy Region

Ukrainian military officials have refuted recent claims by the Russian Ministry of Defense regarding territorial advancements in the Sumy region. Specifically, they stated that the village of Myropillia remains firmly under Ukrainian control.

In a statement, the Ukrainian military emphasized that the assertions of a Russian takeover were unfounded, labeling them as “outright lies.” They confirmed that their units maintain control over the area, with no enemy advances or assaults reported in recent days.

The military also noted a pattern of disinformation coinciding with significant dates in the Russian military calendar. With May 9 approaching, a date of considerable importance in Russian military tradition, they suggested that such claims may be part of a broader narrative aimed at bolstering morale. They remarked, “We are witnessing information convulsions leading up to another ‘sacred date.’ It is noteworthy that their so-called ‘special military operation’ has now lasted longer than the war they celebrate. However, medals and honors are needed annually, which may explain the reported ‘captures’ in their communications.”

Ukrainian military leaders have firmly denied Russian claims of territorial gains in the Sumy region, asserting that the village of Myropillia remains under their control. The military characterized these claims as disinformation, particularly in light of upcoming significant dates in Russian military tradition.
