Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has reported unusual activity along specific sections of the border with Belarus. During his daily address on May 2, he emphasized that Ukrainian authorities are closely monitoring the situation and are prepared to respond if necessary.
“Recently, there has been quite specific activity on the sections of the border between Ukraine and Belarus — from the Belarusian side. We are carefully documenting everything, maintaining control, and if needed, we will respond,” Zelensky stated.
The President reiterated Ukraine’s commitment to protecting its citizens and national sovereignty. He stressed that all parties should be aware of the potential risks of being drawn into any aggressive actions against Ukraine.
On April 17, Zelensky had previously indicated concerns that Russia was attempting to involve Belarus in the ongoing conflict. He noted that there were developments in border areas of Belarus, including road construction towards Ukraine and the establishment of artillery positions.
