On May 1st, starting from 8:00 AM, Russia launched a significant drone assault involving 409 strike drones. Ukrainian air defense successfully intercepted 388 of these unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) by 3:30 PM.
The attack featured various drone types, including Shahed models, Gerbera, Italmas, and others, originating from multiple locations in Russia, such as Shatalovo, Kursk, Orel, Millerovo, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk, as well as from occupied territories in Donetsk and Crimea.
Approximately 250 of the drones were identified as Shahed models. Ukrainian defense forces employed aircraft, anti-aircraft missile systems, electronic warfare units, and mobile fire groups to counter the assault.
By mid-afternoon, reports indicated that air defenses had downed or suppressed 388 enemy drones across northern, southern, central, and western regions of Ukraine. There were also 16 confirmed strikes on six locations, with debris from intercepted drones falling in 11 different sites.

On May 1, Ukraine's air defense forces effectively neutralized the majority of 409 drones launched by Russia, demonstrating a robust response to the ongoing aerial threat. The situation remains active as further attacks are anticipated.
