EU Raises Concerns Over Illegally Exported Ukrainian Grain to Israel

The European Commission has acknowledged reports regarding the unloading of grain from occupied Ukrainian territories at Israeli ports. This statement was made by a spokesperson for the EU executive body on April 28.

According to the spokesperson, Brussels has reached out to the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding the matter. “We condemn any actions that contribute to financing Russia’s illegal military efforts and circumvent EU sanctions. We remain prepared to address such actions by adding individuals and organizations in third countries to our sanctions lists if necessary,” the spokesperson stated, as reported by Euronews.

Furthermore, the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has indicated that several shipments of agricultural products, illegally exported by Russia from occupied territories, have reached Israel. On April 27, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha announced via social media that the Israeli ambassador had been summoned to the ministry amid reports that Israel had received its second vessel carrying stolen Ukrainian grain.

In response, Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar remarked on social media platform X that “diplomatic relations, especially between friendly nations, are not conducted on Twitter or in the media.”

The European Commission has expressed concern over the importation of illegally sourced Ukrainian grain into Israel, prompting diplomatic communications between the EU and Israel. The situation has escalated with Ukraine summoning the Israeli ambassador following reports of multiple grain shipments from occupied territories.
