Ukraine and EU to Intensify Sanctions Against Shadow Grain Fleet

Ukraine, in collaboration with the European Union, is set to enhance sanctions targeting entities involved with Russia’s shadow grain fleet. This initiative comes in light of recent illegal grain shipments from occupied Ukrainian territories.

Officials have drawn attention to the covert operations of this fleet, which not only transports energy resources but also stolen agricultural products. The spokesperson for Ukraine’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized the need for sanctions against all companies and individuals associated with these vessels engaged in the illicit grain trade.

“They employ cunning schemes, transferring goods from port to port in the Black Sea. We believe that all companies, their owners, and captains involved in this trade should face sanctions,” the spokesperson stated.

Furthermore, the official noted that international efforts would expand beyond just Israel, which has been implicated in purchasing the stolen grain. Ukraine’s foreign policy is closely aligned with that of the EU, operating in near-complete synchronization.

“When there are concerns regarding circumvention of sanctions against Russia or any illegal trade, we coordinate our actions with our European partners,” the spokesperson added.

Ukraine plans to ramp up its synchronization and coordination with the EU to combat illegal trade involving stolen Ukrainian grain from Russia.

In related news, last week, the port of Haifa received its first shipment of grain illegally exported by Russia from occupied Ukrainian territories. Despite warnings from Kyiv, Israeli authorities allowed the unloading of the vessel.

This week, a second ship carrying stolen Ukrainian grain was reported in Israel, prompting Ukraine to once again urge the Israeli government to block the illegal imports.

Ukraine is intensifying its efforts with the EU to impose sanctions on entities linked to Russia's shadow grain fleet, following recent illegal shipments of stolen grain. The coordination aims to combat the illicit trade that undermines Ukraine's agricultural sector.
