Power Outage Hits Kharkiv Amid Severe Weather Conditions

A significant power outage affected Kharkiv on April 26, coinciding with adverse weather conditions across the region. Reports began emerging around 4 PM, indicating widespread loss of electricity in various districts of the city.

Many areas, including a central shopping mall, experienced power failures. Additionally, the Kharkiv Metro announced that train services were temporarily halted due to technical issues.

“Dear passengers! Train operations on the metro lines are temporarily suspended for technical reasons. Further updates on the resumption of services will be provided. We apologize for the inconvenience!” – Kharkiv Metro, 4:03 PM.

In the surrounding region, at least the Izyum community was reported to be completely without power. The Izyum Military Administration stated, “Attention! The community is fully de-energized due to the shutdown of a high-voltage line outside the community and district.”

As of 4:33 PM, the Kharkiv City Council confirmed the blackout, stating that “Ukrenergo” and “Kharkivoblenergo” are investigating the cause of the outage and working to restore power to the city. They also noted that city passenger electric transport services are currently not operating due to the power disruptions.

Kharkiv experienced a widespread power outage on April 26 due to severe weather, impacting both the city and surrounding areas. The local metro services were also suspended, with authorities working to restore electricity.
