Ukrainian President Calls for Enhanced Air Defense Following Dnipro Attacks

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has urged international partners to strengthen Ukraine’s air defense capabilities in response to a series of missile and drone strikes on the city of Dnipro. In a statement shared via his Telegram channel, Zelensky emphasized the need for continued sanctions against Russia amidst the ongoing conflict.

The attacks on Dnipro have led to a significant rescue operation involving emergency services and medical personnel. Authorities are currently searching for two individuals who are reported missing following the strikes.

According to Zelensky, the assaults began overnight, targeting residential buildings, energy infrastructure, and civilian sites. He noted that the same residential area was struck again during the day, resulting in numerous injuries.

As of the latest reports, over 40 individuals have sustained injuries, including children, with 23 requiring hospitalization. Five residents have been confirmed dead.

Zelensky highlighted the importance of maintaining global awareness regarding the situation in Ukraine, stressing that the ongoing war should not lose focus due to other international conflicts. He stated, “Shahed drones kill people just the same, and protection against cruise and ballistic missiles must be equally robust. We are counting on timely implementation of every political agreement regarding the enhancement of air defense. It is crucial that pressure on Russia continues without pause, with no breaks in sanctions for each of these attacks. Life needs protection, and I thank everyone who stands with Ukraine!”

On April 25, Russian forces launched a large-scale attack on Dnipro, resulting in the partial destruction of a four-story residential building and damage to other structures, including an industrial facility. The same residential area was targeted again around 11:25 AM.

The combined toll from the overnight and morning attacks has resulted in five fatalities and 46 injuries, including five children.

President Zelensky has called for increased international support for Ukraine's air defense following recent attacks on Dnipro, which resulted in multiple casualties. He urged for sustained sanctions against Russia and emphasized the need for global attention on the conflict.
