The Ukrainian General Staff has announced significant personnel changes within the command of the 14th Separate Mechanized Brigade, named after Prince Roman the Great, which is currently engaged in defensive operations near Kupiansk. This decision follows reports of inadequate supplies for troops stationed in the Kharkiv region.
According to the General Staff, ongoing aerial and missile strikes by enemy forces targeting crossings over the Oskil River have severely hampered logistical support for defense units in the Kupiansk area. As a result, military logistics are now being managed through watercraft and heavy drones.
“In these challenging circumstances, special attention is being paid to ensuring our servicemen are well-equipped while they carry out frontline duties. However, the previous command of the 14th Brigade concealed the true state of affairs, resulting in the loss of certain positions and several miscalculations regarding troop supplies. Specifically, issues with food delivery to one of the brigade’s positions were identified,” the report stated.
To address these issues, several personnel decisions have been made. The commander of the 14th Brigade has been removed from his position, and the commander of the 10th Army Corps has been dismissed and reassigned to a lower rank. Colonel Taras Maksimov has been appointed as the new commander of the 14th Brigade, while Brigadier General Artem Bohomolov will lead the 10th Army Corps.
In light of the identified violations, a comprehensive commission from the Ground Forces is conducting an investigation. Currently, a service inquiry into the actions of officials from the 14th Brigade is nearing completion. Based on its findings, appropriate management decisions will be made, and the investigation materials will be forwarded to law enforcement for legal evaluation. The new command is taking all possible measures to normalize the situation and improve the supply chain for troops in combat positions.
Additionally, Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Oleksandr Syrskyi has instructed Major General Mykhailo Drapaty, who oversees the 10th Army Corps, to conduct a thorough review of the support provided to frontline troops.
It is worth noting that a recent food supply shipment has been delivered to the positions of the 14th Brigade. If conditions permit, an immediate evacuation of soldiers will be carried out, according to the command.
Relatives of the 14th Brigade servicemen have shared images highlighting the difficult supply situation faced by the troops stationed in the Kharkiv region, with reports indicating a persistent lack of food and water at their positions.
The Ukrainian military has implemented leadership changes in the 14th Separate Mechanized Brigade due to supply issues affecting troops near Kupiansk. An investigation is underway to address the identified logistical shortcomings.
