Two police officers in Kyiv, Mikhail Drobnitsky and Anna Dudina, have been granted bail following accusations of negligence that led to serious consequences during a recent shooting incident. The bail amount was set at 266,000 hryvnias for each officer, with the payment confirmed on April 22.
The Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office has acknowledged the bail arrangement, which was reportedly funded by the officers’ relatives. There were also claims on social media suggesting that colleagues of the officers contributed to the bail.
According to Mikhail Bahovsky, the lawyer representing the officers, both Drobnitsky and Dudina were released from pre-trial detention on Wednesday. This development follows a decision by the Pechersk District Court on April 21, which placed the officers in custody for 60 days but allowed for bail to be posted.
The defense team had requested a less severe measure, proposing nighttime house arrest instead of detention. Following the court’s ruling, the lawyer indicated plans to appeal the initial decision.
