Ukrainian Forces Target Russian Military and Energy Facilities Overnight

The Ukrainian military reported successful strikes on several Russian military and energy installations during the night of April 20. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine confirmed that these operations are aimed at reducing the logistical capabilities of Russian forces.

Among the targeted sites was the Tuapse Oil Refinery in Russia’s Krasnodar region, where explosions were reported to have caused a fire in the storage area. Additionally, the Gvardeyskoye oil depot in the temporarily occupied Crimea was also hit.

The General Staff indicated that these attacks would hinder the fuel supply for Russian military units. Furthermore, two large landing ships in the occupied city of Sevastopol were confirmed to have sustained damage, although details regarding the extent of the destruction are still being assessed.

Other significant targets included ammunition depots located in the areas of Urzuf in the Donetsk region and Loknya in the Belgorod region of Russia. A drone storage site near Nova Karakuba and an enemy command and observation post near Blahodatne in Donetsk were also struck. The exact losses and damage inflicted on Russian forces are still being clarified.

Reports from the Crimea Reality project noted that gunfire and anti-aircraft explosions were heard in various parts of Sevastopol the previous evening, with the most intense activity reported in the northern area near the Russian military airfield at Belbek.

In response, the Russian Ministry of Defense claimed to have shot down 112 Ukrainian drones over several regions, including Astrakhan, Bryansk, Voronezh, Kaluga, Kursk, and Krasnodar, as well as over occupied Crimea and the waters of the Azov and Black Seas.

Since the beginning of the large-scale invasion, various sites within Russia have been targeted by airstrikes, particularly oil refineries. The Ukrainian General Staff has consistently affirmed that these operations are part of a broader strategy to diminish the combat capabilities of Russian occupying forces and to compel Russia to cease its military aggression against Ukraine.

Ukrainian forces have targeted key military and energy facilities in Russia, including an oil refinery and military ships, aiming to disrupt Russian logistics. The strikes are part of a systematic effort to weaken Russian military capabilities amid ongoing conflict.
