Russian Airstrikes Damage Dnipro Art Museum Amid Widespread Attacks Across Ukraine

A recent wave of Russian airstrikes on April 16 has resulted in significant damage to the Dnipro Art Museum, with all windows shattered and the facade affected. This incident is part of a broader assault that has seen hundreds of aerial targets launched against various locations in Ukraine.

The museum’s administration confirmed that no artifacts were harmed during the attack. According to Yevhen Khoroshylov, head of the Culture Department of the Humanitarian Policy Directorate, the primary concern was the museum’s collection, which remains intact due to timely protective measures. “We have damage. We are currently assessing and addressing the consequences. I want to emphasize that the most important thing is the museum’s collection. It has not been affected,” Khoroshylov stated.

As a result of the damage, the museum will temporarily close its doors to the public, with announcements regarding its reopening to follow.

This incident marks the second time the museum has suffered from Russian strikes. On September 30, 2025, a previous attack resulted in extensive damage, including shattered windows and doors.

The recent airstrikes across Ukraine have led to casualties and injuries in several cities, with the most severe destruction reported in Kyiv, Dnipro, and Odesa. Over the course of a single day, Russian forces targeted 26 locations, underscoring the ongoing conflict’s impact on cultural institutions and civilian life.

The Dnipro Art Museum has sustained extensive damage from Russian airstrikes, though its collection remains unharmed. This incident is part of a larger pattern of attacks affecting multiple cities in Ukraine, resulting in casualties and significant destruction.
