Ballistic Missile Attack Strikes Kyiv, Leaving Casualties

In the early hours of April 16, the Russian military launched a ballistic missile attack on Ukraine’s capital, Kyiv. According to Timur Tkachенко, head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, there are confirmed injuries, including the tragic death of a 12-year-old child, as reported by the city’s mayor, Vitali Klitschko.

The air raid alert was issued around 2:30 AM, as the Ukrainian Air Force warned of the threat posed by ballistic weaponry. Initial reports indicate that the attack resulted in at least seven injuries.

In the Podilskyi district, a 12-year-old child was killed, and four medics were injured while responding to the emergency. Klitschko noted that a non-residential building was struck in this area, leading to debris falling and a fire breaking out on the first floor of a residential building, with missile fragments hitting the sixth floor of a 16-story structure.

Similar incidents were reported in the Obolonskyi district, where missile debris also fell, igniting a significant fire in a non-residential area and damaging vehicles. Emergency medical services were also dispatched to the Shevchenkivskyi district in response to the attack.

This situation is still developing as authorities assess the damage and respond to the emergency.

A ballistic missile strike on Kyiv resulted in casualties, including the death of a child, and several injuries. Emergency services are actively responding to the aftermath of the attack.
