Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky held a meeting on April 14 to review the country’s energy system, receiving a report from Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko. He expressed gratitude to those working to enhance energy generation and protection.
Zelensky emphasized the need for new agreements with international partners to secure equipment for energy facilities, aiming for these arrangements to be finalized within the week. He also discussed ongoing efforts to implement resilience plans for various regions and major cities.
Currently, 368 energy facilities are undergoing work, primarily focused on upgrading protective measures. However, Zelensky noted that some regions, including Lviv, Volyn, Odesa, and Kyiv, are lagging behind the established timeline for achieving specific outcomes before the upcoming heating season.
Additionally, he announced a revival of regular meetings involving key government officials, regional leaders, law enforcement, and military commanders responsible for protecting energy infrastructure.
On April 2, Zelensky indicated that restoration efforts had commenced at 245 sites nationwide, despite financial constraints. He highlighted that approximately 5 billion euros from a proposed 90 billion euro package by the European Union would be allocated for Ukraine’s preparations for the next winter and for urgent restoration efforts.
