Intensified Attacks Continue Despite Easter Ceasefire Announcement in Ukraine

Despite the announced Easter ceasefire, Russian forces have intensified their assaults on Ukrainian military positions. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported 55 attacks by Russian troops since the start of the day.

The attacks have primarily targeted border areas, with towns such as Tovstodubove, Iskryskivshchyna, and Bachivsk in the Sumy region coming under fire.

In the Pokrovsk direction, Russian forces have attempted to displace Ukrainian defenders from their positions 14 times, focusing on areas including Bilytske, Rodynske, Myrnohrad, Zatyshok, Hryshyne, Pokrovsk, Udachne, Molodetske, Muravka, and Novopavlivka. One assault operation is still ongoing.

Additionally, there were 11 attacks reported in the Kostiantynivka area, targeting positions near Kostiantynivka, Pleshchiyivka, Illinivka, Novopavlivka, and Kucheryv Yar. The Hulyaipil direction experienced nine attacks against Ukrainian positions near Zaliznychne, Staroukrainka, Myrne, Varvarivka, and Hulyaipilske.

Russian troops are also continuing their assaults in the South Slobozhansky, Kupiansk, Lyman, Sloviansk, Kramatorsk, and Oleksandrivka directions. However, there were no storming actions reported in the Orikhiv and Dnipro directions.

The Russian Ministry of Defense has accused Ukraine of violating the ceasefire agreement 1,971 times.

On the evening of April 9, the Kremlin announced that President Putin had instructed Russian military forces to cease hostilities across all fronts from 16:00 on April 11 until the end of the day on April 12. However, he emphasized the need for readiness to respond to any provocations or aggressive actions from Ukraine.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky had earlier expressed Ukraine’s willingness to observe a ceasefire during Easter, which will be celebrated by Orthodox and Greek-Catholic communities on April 12.

On April 11, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, was tasked by the president to ensure compliance with the ceasefire. The ceasefire is intended to be upheld across land, sea, and air during the Easter celebrations.

Russian military operations have escalated despite a ceasefire announcement for Easter, with numerous attacks reported across various Ukrainian regions. The situation remains tense as both sides prepare for potential provocations.
