Russian Forces Accidentally Kill Their Own Soldiers During Ceasefire

During a declared ceasefire for Easter, Russian forces mistakenly killed three of their own soldiers in Chasovyi Yar. The soldiers, who were previously captured and dressed in neutral clothing, were part of an attempted evacuation.

As part of the ceasefire agreement, an operation was initiated to evacuate injured personnel from the front lines in Chasovyi Yar. The soldiers, unarmed and displaying signs of having received medical assistance, were moving towards the rear with sticks and white flags.

However, upon discovering the evacuation group, Russian forces quickly attacked using FPV drones. All three injured soldiers were killed in the strike. It was later revealed that these individuals were not Ukrainian troops but rather wounded Russian prisoners of war.

“To ensure the safe medical evacuation of personnel, the brigade command decided to dress the captured soldiers in neutral clothing and conduct a trial evacuation to verify the enemy’s adherence to their own commitments,” the statement read.

This incident highlights a tragic miscalculation, resulting in the deaths of Russian servicemen: Senior Sergeant Stanislav Alexeyevich Zhuravlyov, Private Alexander Alexeyevich Choshev, and Junior Sergeant Andrey Vyacheslavovich Zagrabin.

Despite the ceasefire, reports indicate that Russia has continued to violate the truce. As of 4 PM on April 12, 55 attacks had been recorded since the beginning of the day. By the evening of April 11, Russian forces had breached the ceasefire 469 times, with that number escalating to 1,723 by the following morning.

Ukrainian officials, including the head of the Office of the President, Kyrylo Budanov, have expressed skepticism regarding the longevity of the Easter ceasefire. He noted that the situation is likely to mirror last year’s events, marked by temporary quiet followed by renewed hostilities.

In a tragic incident during an Easter ceasefire, Russian forces mistakenly killed three of their own soldiers who were part of an evacuation effort. This event underscores ongoing violations of the ceasefire by Russian troops amidst the conflict.
