Ukraine Surpasses Russia in Drone Attacks for First Time Amid Intensified Air Operations

In March, Ukraine reportedly surpassed Russia for the first time in the number of drone attacks since the onset of the full-scale war. Both nations have significantly increased their use of drones and missiles during this period.

According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, its air defense systems intercepted 7,347 Ukrainian drones in March, averaging 237 drones per day. However, the total number of drones deployed by Ukraine remains undisclosed.

Conversely, data from the Ukrainian Air Force indicates that over 6,462 Russian drones and 138 various types of missiles were shot down last month. Of these, 5,833 drones and 102 missiles were successfully neutralized or intercepted.

ABC News reported that Russia set a new record for the scale of air attacks in March, deploying approximately 6,600 drones and missiles. The most intense assault occurred on March 24, when Russian forces launched 948 drones and 34 missiles against Ukraine.

The data from March suggests a potential shift in the balance of power in favor of Ukraine, indicating that the long-term efforts by Kyiv to develop its drone and missile capabilities are beginning to yield results.
