Ukrainian Forces Target Russian Oil Terminal and Aircraft in Recent Strikes

Ukrainian military officials reported successful strikes on April 6, targeting a significant oil terminal in Novorossiysk, Russia, and a Be-12 amphibious aircraft in occupied Crimea. The attacks are part of ongoing efforts to diminish the capabilities of Russian military forces.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine stated that the oil terminal, known as “Sheskharis,” was hit, resulting in a large fire. While the extent of the damage is still being assessed, initial reports indicate that the strike was effective.

In addition to the oil terminal, Ukrainian forces confirmed the damage to the Be-12 aircraft in the vicinity of Kacha in Crimea. The specifics regarding the level of destruction inflicted on the aircraft are still being clarified.

Earlier, Russian authorities reported a drone attack in the Krasnodar region. Governor Veniamin Kondratyev mentioned that there were eight injuries and damage to several buildings in Novorossiysk. He also noted that debris from drones was found at various facilities, although he did not specify which ones. Meanwhile, a Russian Telegram channel, ASTRA, claimed that the drone strikes specifically targeted the Sheskharis oil terminal, highlighting its strategic importance.

On the same day, Robert Brovdi, commander of the Ukrainian drone forces, announced that they had also struck the Russian frigate “Admiral Makarov,” a carrier of Kalibr missiles, in the port of Novorossiysk, as well as a drilling platform named “Sivash” in the Black Sea.

Russian military officials have yet to comment on the Ukrainian claims regarding these attacks. Since the onset of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, various locations within Russia have experienced airstrikes, with the Ukrainian General Staff confirming many of these incidents. They emphasize that these operations are part of a systematic strategy to weaken the combat potential of Russian occupation forces and to pressure Russia to cease its military aggression against Ukraine.

Ukrainian forces conducted strikes on an oil terminal in Novorossiysk and a Be-12 aircraft in Crimea, marking a continuation of their military operations against Russian targets. The attacks aim to reduce the operational capacity of Russian forces amid ongoing conflict.
