The Operational Command “West” has announced the initiation of an investigation following reports of significant violations at the Uzhhorod Military Recruitment Center (RTC) and Social Protection (SP) office. This decision comes after the Ukrainian Ombudsman’s representative in the Transcarpathian region, Andriy Kryuchkov, revealed concerning findings during a monitoring visit.
In response to these allegations, the command has outlined several measures:
- A special commission will be established to conduct a thorough internal review aimed at verifying the reported violations and uncovering any additional misconduct.
- All materials collected by the commission will be forwarded to the appropriate authorities for legal assessment and to hold accountable those responsible.
The Operational Command “West” emphasized its commitment to a zero-tolerance policy regarding any human rights violations, negligence, or abuse of power by its leadership and military personnel.
Earlier, Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets communicated through Telegram about the “unsatisfactory conclusions” drawn from his monitoring visit to the Uzhhorod RTC and SP, highlighting the need for immediate action.
Since the onset of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022, martial law has been implemented alongside a general mobilization order. The Ukrainian Parliament has extended the duration of martial law and mobilization every three months. Initially, restrictions were placed on men aged 18 to 60 regarding their ability to leave the country. However, changes to the legislation in August 2025 allowed men under 22 years of age to travel abroad. For women, participation in the Armed Forces of Ukraine remains voluntary.
The Uzhhorod Military Recruitment Center is under scrutiny following allegations of serious misconduct. The Operational Command "West" has launched an investigation to verify these claims and ensure accountability.
