U.S. Defense Budget Set to Reach $1.5 Trillion, Marking Historic Increase

The United States is poised to increase its defense budget to $1.5 trillion, representing the largest rise in military spending since World War II.

Approximately $1.1 trillion of this budget will be allocated for discretionary Pentagon expenditures, the highest figure recorded in U.S. history.

Additionally, $350 billion is earmarked specifically for the defense industrial base.

The budget proposal also includes provisions for pay raises for military personnel and allocates $65.8 billion for shipbuilding, which encompasses what President Donald Trump has termed the “Golden Fleet” of next-generation vessels.

Among these are heavily armed Trump-class battleships, which were unveiled in December.

Furthermore, the budget outlines an unspecified amount for the “Golden Dome” initiative, valued at $185 billion. According to officials, this program will feature multiple layers of ground, sea, and space sensors and interceptors designed to protect the U.S. from next-generation missiles and drones.

Trump has consistently expressed his intention to boost the defense budget and promote domestic defense manufacturing.

During a closed-door event at the White House earlier this week, which was recorded, Trump emphasized that military spending should be a national priority moving forward.

He stated,

“We cannot be taking care of children, Medicaid, Medicare, all of these separate things; they can do that at the state level,”

adding that the primary focus should be on “military protection.”

The U.S. defense budget is set to increase significantly, with major allocations for personnel, shipbuilding, and advanced defense systems. This reflects a strategic shift towards prioritizing military expenditures.
