Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has unveiled a series of initiatives aimed at enhancing the capabilities of the country’s infantry and reforming military contract systems. These decisions come in response to ongoing challenges faced by the armed forces amid the ongoing conflict.
Zelensky, alongside Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov, outlined several priority tasks for the coming weeks. These tasks focus on three main areas:
-
Enhancing Ukrainian Infantry: The government aims to bolster the effectiveness and readiness of ground troops.
-
Improving Military Contract Systems: Revisions will be made to streamline and optimize the contracts that govern military personnel.
-
Addressing Unauthorized Departures from Military Units: New measures will be introduced to respond to instances of soldiers leaving their units without permission.
“The measures must be effective and actionable,” Zelensky emphasized during the announcement.
In addition to these reforms, the Ukrainian government plans to expand the production of weapons. This includes enhancing the export capabilities of domestic arms manufacturers and establishing joint production efforts with international partners. Such initiatives are expected to strengthen Ukraine’s defense industry and improve its overall military readiness.
