Reports indicate that Russian forces are employing cumulative-fragmentation munitions in their attacks on the Kharkiv region, posing significant risks to civilians.
The head of the regional military administration noted that these munitions, characterized by a bell-like shape and equipped with self-destruction mechanisms, are particularly hazardous for the local population.
Additionally, explosives experts have identified mines with magnetic target sensors, which are round and green in color, and also possess self-destruction capabilities.
The regional administration has urged residents of Kharkiv to exercise extreme caution. In the event of encountering a suspicious object, individuals are advised to:
- avoid approaching or attempting to move it;
- maintain a safe distance;
- immediately notify authorities by calling 101 or 102.
Furthermore, it has been reported that Russian forces are utilizing drones equipped with hazardous munitions to target civilian infrastructure. In May 2025, a series of explosions were recorded in the Darnytskyi district of Kyiv following a drone attack. These drones may have been used to disperse cluster munitions that detonate after a delay.
Such munitions are triggered by movement, light, or vibration, rendering them deadly traps.
