Ukraine Signs Defense Agreement with UAE Amid Ongoing Conflict

As of March 29, 2026, Ukraine continues to confront a full-scale invasion by Russia, marking the 1,495th day of the conflict. Recent developments include a forthcoming defense agreement with the United Arab Emirates (UAE), which follows similar agreements with Saudi Arabia and Qatar.

The planned decade-long partnership will focus on joint weapon production and energy cooperation. This initiative underscores Ukraine’s efforts to strengthen its defense capabilities amidst ongoing hostilities.

In a related matter, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has dismissed claims by Iranian military sources regarding an alleged strike on a warehouse containing Ukrainian anti-drone systems in the UAE. Ministry spokesperson Oleg Tikhiy labeled the assertion as “false,” following reports from Iranian media that suggested a drone strike had targeted the facility in Dubai.

In the Mykolaiv region, Russian attacks using Shahed drones have resulted in an increase in casualties. Reports indicate that ten individuals were injured during strikes on March 28 and the early hours of March 29, particularly in the Voznesenska community. Among the injured are a 40-year-old woman and two girls aged 13 and 15, who are currently in serious condition.

“The other six injured children are in moderate condition,” the Mykolaiv Regional State Administration stated.

The drone strikes also caused damage to three residential buildings, several shops, and a vehicle. Additionally, windows of an educational institution and power lines were damaged in the Voznesensky district, resulting in partial power outages in one locality.

On the morning of March 29, the Ukrainian Air Forces reported the presence of multiple groups of Russian strike drones in various regions, including Poltava, Sumy, Chernihiv, Cherkasy, Kyiv, Odesa, Kherson, and Kharkiv. The drones were observed moving in southern, western, and southwestern directions, with additional sightings in Zhytomyr and north of Kryvyi Rih, as well as in the Black Sea area heading towards Odesa.

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Russian military losses have reached approximately 1,295,830 personnel since the onset of the full-scale invasion on February 24. On March 29 alone, Russian forces reportedly lost 1,360 soldiers.

In terms of military equipment, the losses include:

  • tanks – 11,820 (+8)
  • armored fighting vehicles – 24,313 (+16)
  • artillery systems – 39,001 (+65)
  • multiple launch rocket systems – 1,707 (+0)
  • anti-aircraft systems – 1,337 (+0)
  • aircraft – 435 (+0)
  • helicopters – 350 (+0)
  • operational-tactical drones – 204,060 (+1,948)
  • cruise missiles – 4,491 (+0)
  • ships and boats – 33 (+0)
  • submarines – 2 (+0)
  • automotive and fuel trucks – 85,977 (+181)

These figures are subject to further verification.

Ukraine is set to sign a defense agreement with the UAE, focusing on joint weapon production and energy collaboration. Meanwhile, recent drone attacks in Mykolaiv have resulted in multiple injuries, and Russian military losses continue to mount.
